Here's what we were working with - a long retaining wall that had completely run its course. The old structure was a mix of stacked slate stone and rotting timber, and it was losing the fight against the hillside. Sections were bulging, gaps were opening up, and weeds had taken over the base. It wasn't just an eyesore - it was a real structural problem sitting right along a public road.

We cleared everything out and got to work on the site prep and grading. That meant removing all the old material, cutting into the hillside, and setting up a proper base to build off of. On a sloped property like this one, the grading work is just as important as the wall itself. If the ground isn't right, nothing else is.

The new wall went in using large interlocking concrete blocks - the kind that are built to hold back serious weight for the long haul. Each course was set with precision, and the result is a wall that runs clean and straight from end to end. No bowing, no gaps, no patchwork. Just a solid, uniform structure that can handle whatever this hillside throws at it.

What we ended up with is a completely different property. The homeowners now have a stabilized slope, a usable area where there was once a crumbling mess, and a wall that looks as good as it performs. Big shoutout to the two guys who put in the work on this one - their effort made this job what it is. And a huge thank you to the homeowners for trusting us with it.
